Semiconductor Sages was created by veteran Silicon Valley semiconductor professionals with a vision to create a company that would deliver world class semiconductor product development, qualification, production, test and quality services.
Michael Herman brings to the group a wide range of technical and management experience, ranging from fundamental physics and laboratory testing, to establishment of corporate Quality and Reliability management systems. He is anxious to bring energy and experience to development of new solid state technologies for our customers.
While at Intel, he utilized PhD studies of electron tunneling and EPROM coupling to set up the differential equations governing Flash memory erase time. Using a variety of lab measurements, he determined the cause of CVD silicide transistor threshold shifts, and implants to bring Vts to spec. He used Rutherford Backscattering to rapidly solve a range of industrial problems, from transistor passivation to eutectic die attach failures.
Michael also brings strength in the development of new testing methods. He developed faster ways of measuring dielectric breakdown to statistically predict short and long term reliability. He also established spectroscopic testing of crystalline films using electron beam electroreflectance.
In the realm of memory technologies, Michael has served as an Engineering Director at many companies. Most recently, at SiliconBlue Technologies he established improved programming of 40nm CMOS OTP memories.
Dr. Indrajit Banerjee has 20 years plus semiconductor industry experience in technology, quality and reliability, manufacturing and supply-chain development, in start-ups to large multi-national companies, including Intel, Applied Materials and FormFactor. Handled technical and managerial challenges from Q&R, process/material development to production. While at Intel, he developed two dielectric materials used in semiconductor manufacturing, one generation ahead of the rest of the industry. Additionally at Intel, he set up state of the art Failure Analysis and Materials Characterization Laboratory. In addition to Si technology, he is experienced in the development and manufacturing of III-V compound semiconductors. Dr. Banerjee has a Ph.D. in Physics from Northwestern University and did his Post-Doctoral Research at the University of California, Santa Barbara on the MBE growth of GaAs and related compounds. Dr. Banerjee is an author of over 25 articles in refereed journals, a Senior Member of IEEE and holds four patents.
Behzad Shahi received his PhD from Delft University of Technology, Delft the Netherlands; and his MSEE from Santa Clara University, Santa Clara California in the fields of precision Analog Design and Microelectronics respectively.
Since 1987, he has worked at several integrated circuit manufacturers such as Siliconix, Micro Power Systems, Signetics, Philips, Maxim, Freescale, and IDT in the areas of design, application, product development, and failure analysis of integrated circuits.
Prior to joining Pacific Semiconductor Behzad worked at IDT (Integrated Device Technology) in San Jose, California. Behzad started with IDT as the Sr. Design Director of APD (Analog & Power Division) and finished as the Sr. Director of Design and Technology Development within the CTO office.
In 2006, Behzad established and headed the Silicon Valley Development Center (SVDC) in Milpitas as a Northern California Engineering Site for Freescale Semiconductor.
Responsibilities included leading design and layout teams, in addition to his management role as the site director. His main focus at the time has been the design and development of high performance analog and mixed mode, low-voltage / low-power CMOS, PMIC, and high frequency circuits.
A family of his Ultra-Low Offset/ Low Drift Precision Instrumentation Amplifier designs with typical offset, Gain Error, and PSRR specifications of 3uV, 0.01%, and -140dB were awarded the 2008 En-Genius Product of the Year in this category (MAX4208 / MAX4209 family of products).
Behzad holds 5 issued U.S. patents and is the author of three books in the areas of advanced electronics and precision analog design.
